Bellydance has always generated a strong sense of form and elegance that I have always gravitated towards. The forms in which takes place within a performance incorporates fluidity, rhythm, and undulations. Like any performance based arts, there are many ways in which to produce a mood or illicit a feeling through movement and music. Its aesthetic beauty and grace can be traditional and/or modern. Another aspect that draws me is the detailed and ornate costume wear. It is decorative and takes months, even years, to create one set of wear. Samantha Emanuel is one of my favorite dancers. She incorporates many different forms and traditions of bellydance in her performances. Her movements are precise and fluid. Her transitions move very quickly and flawlessly.
